The advent of social networks and medias brought many benefits to our lives. The main benefit of this innovation is connectivity. Social Networks allow entities in different locations to communicate, transfer information and content. Everything has its ups and downs and being connected 24/7 is no exception.

Interconnectivity revolutionized communications. Gone are the days of telephone wires, mails, and slow transmission form of information transportation. Information can be shared and published in a blink of an eye. This fact transformed the recruiting industry. According to Frank Langfitt in his article "Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting" published on NPR, the advent of social networks gave rise to recruiting social medias such as LinkedIn. This expedited the process of recruiting by a large margin and professionals are primed to build a case for themselves instead of relying on just their resume.

Interconnectivity also brings a lot of backlash as well: Being connected 24/7 speaks volumes about the diminishing factor of privacy. In his article "Brave New World of Intimacy" published on the New York Times, Clive Thompson talked about how social media had changed the way people interact with each other. He talked about ambient awareness, a concept that people have become fine-tuned with social media that they can detect the change in mood of a person based on their social media interactions..

    I like how you said "gone are the days of telephone wires".... That is so true, kind of sad but honestly I think that it is a very good direction that our world goes towards. Things are just so much more faster and efficient these days. Of course we cannot forget about some drawbacks, therefore I wonder what will be the future drawbacks of next in line tech....

    Hello,

    I like how you point out that being so well connected with others in the world can be a double edged sword. Sure, it allows us to connect in real time with people half way across the globe, but also at the same time, there's a diminishing factor of privacy.

Looking forward to the future, predicting what will happen, is a feat few can get right down to a tee. No one can really tell what kind of innovation will pop up and influence the flow of progression. This applies to social media as well: Most could not have predicted the rise and dominance of Facebook, the inception of Snapchat, the popularity of Instagram. This is my first time experiencing dealing with editing and managing a wiki. With no experiences regarding HTML, website editing, I can say that I'm starting to get a hang of it. For my contributions so far, I've only contributed about one topic: Fashion. That's a subject that I'm very passionate about.
